Connie Slagle, aka the Bookshop Lady, runs the Friends of the Library Book Shoppe.
The Friends of the Library Book Shoppe is located at 119 West 6th in Friona.
The book shop sells good quality used books that have been donated by individuals and the Friona Public Library for only one dollar a bag.
Book Shoppe Schedule:
Wednesday: 3:00.p.m. - 5:30.p.m. (October through May)
Thursday: 10:00.p.m. – Noon (June through September)
It’s also open by appointment.

All proceeds from the book shop go to Friends of the Library projects. The average intake since reopening in 2014 has been almost $600 per year. In addition, the book shop has donated excess books to the Deaf Smith Crisis Center and hospital, Thrift City (Downtown Women’s Center and Boy’s Ranch), Goodwill, Veteran’s Hospital, Storybridge, Raider Ranch, various churches, and Friona ISD. The book shop assisted with collecting books or funds to benefit Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Michael schools, Hi-Pro’s gift bags for soldiers, River Road High School’s free book fair, and Bowie Middle School’s Socks for the Homeless.
